On Friday, Danish Siddiqui, a photo journalist of Reuters, was killed while covering a clash between Afghan security forces and Taliban fighters near a border crossing with Pakistan. The demise of the 38 year old left people dejected with many offering their condolences for his family members. Several influential personalities from across the globe, including Foreign secretary Harsha Shringla condemned the killing of the journalist Body of the Indian photo journalist has been handed over to the Red cross by the Taliban government, according to sources.

Afghanistan president Ashraf Ghani expressed his condolences to the family members of Siddiqui and said that he was killed while covering the atrocities of Taliban in Kandahar. Reports suggests that the Pulitzer Prize winning journalist was embedded with Afghan troops who were ambushed by the Taliban near the Spin Boldak border crossing.

Spokesperson of Taliban Zabihulla Mujahaid said that Taliban had not been aware that there was a journalist reporting from the site. He said that it was not clear how Siddiqui was killed in the “fierce battle”. Entire country, including politicians, films and sports personalities mourned for the demise of the young and skilled photographer. Meanwhile, a number Twitter handles could be seen spewing hatred at the deceased by celebrating his demise.

A twitter handle named Kishore C Iyer whose bio says that he is a “Brahmanical Patriarchy, HINDUTVA, Saffron, Cross Fit, Metal, Anti-Desert cult, Varnashrama Dharma, Anti-left/liberals/secularists” uploaded the screen shots of Danish’s earlier post about COVID 19 crisis in India and a post about his demise only to add laughing emojis.

Not only Kishore, a set of people were uploading posts making fun of the journalist’s demise. A user added an hashtag saying “Karma” and one could be seen adding PUBG game logo to mock Danish.

Hundreds of people got irked on seeing these tweets and many demanded them to remove the tweets. “You think you will never die ?” a twitter user asked Kishore C Iyer on seeing his post. When a user asked him to delete the tweet, Kishore said that he has no “guilt” on uploading such a post.
