WATCH : Lokesh Kanagaraj’s First Interview After “Vikram” Release !!
- Kamal Haasan
Lokesh Kanagaraj appeared for an interview for the first time after the release of “Vikram” and opened about many aspects of the film. Answering to the questions, Lokesh shared about why Kamal Haasan had only one dialogue in the whole first half and about the possibilities of the spin offs of Kaithi characters. The filmmaker said that he was waiting for the audience response for the multiverse concept he attempted in “Vikram” and is pretty much happy now.
Talking about the interval revelation of Kamal Haasan character, Lokesh Kaagaraj said “We didn’t have any intention about hiding Kamal sir as a mask man and revealing him in the interval. Obviously it was transparent as we showed it in the trailer itself. We just wanted audience to celebrate the particular moment” Lokesh kanagaraj said. On giving less screen space for Kamal Haasan in the first half, Lokesh Kanagaraj said that it is the perfect tribute for him as he loves to experiment right from the beginning of his career.
Answering to the question on the term “Lokesh universe” which is trending in Internet ever since the trailer of “Vikram” released, Lokesh said that he had that wish for a long time since “Kaithi” times. “After I kept an open ending for the lead character of “Kaithi”, audience were curious about the back story of “Dhilli”. “Master” was completely a stand alone film. I approached sir with the idea of doing in the film within the “Kaithi” universe” Loki said.

The filmmaker said that there are few difficulties in making the crossover between “Kaithi” and “Vikram”. We needed to get NOC from S.R Prabhu sir as he is the producer of “Kaithi” and also to use a track of “Kaithi”, we needed to get Non objection certificate. We couldn’t do it just like that. Both the producers had a meeting and only after that the crossover happened” the “Master” maker said.
Lokesh also talked about the positives in creating a universe. “I could make a film anytime I want. If there is minimum budget, we could do a film with Mariyam George character alone. We could do a web series by having Bejoy and boys in the lead roles. Expanding an universe would open doors for many separate films. I was in doubt initially. Now, on seeing the response, I can work on it properly” Lokesh said.
