Once again Kohli backed his former captain. “When he (MS Dhoni) has an off day here and there, everyone starts talking. We always back him. He has won us so many games,” Kohli said at the post-match presentation ceremony.
Virat Kohli said MS Dhoni’s experience helps the Indian team in the middle and explained how he gets the extra crucial runs the side needs. “The best thing about having someone like him is when you need those 15-20 runs, he knows exactly how to get them. His experience, 8 out of 10 times has come good for us. We have quite a few players who play instinctive cricket and follow their game plans.”
“He has such a keen understanding of the game. Always sends us feedback, that you know 260 is a good score. He’s a legend of the game. We all know that. Just hope he can continue,” Kohli said.
After Dhoni’s 52-ball 28 against Afghanistan, he was severely trolled online by fans. On Thursday after his half-century, VVS Laxman said Dhoni might regret his slow start. However, after Dhoni recorded a strike rate of 91.80 against West Indies, Kohli said he hoped the former India captain could continue doing what he does best.
Kohli also seen celebrating Dhoni hitting a huge six against Starc during the match between Australia and India. Now after seeing this speech of Kohli in the post match presentation one of a twitter user wrote “Nobody celebrates Dhoni’s successes like Kohli does.”
