Vijay Deverakonda and Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s latest film, “Kushi,” has taken the box office by storm. The success of “Kushi” was undeniable, but it faced a formidable challenger in Shah Rukh Khan’s “Jawan,” which premiered on September 7 and momentarily hindered its box office progress. The makers have officially announced the release date of “Kushi” on the popular OTT platform, Netflix. The film will be available for streaming starting October 1, bringing the magic of Vijay and Samantha’s chemistry to screens around the world.

What’s particularly remarkable about this OTT release is the staggering price Netflix paid to acquire the digital rights of “Kushi.” According to a report by OTT Play, the streaming giant shelled out a hefty sum of Rs 30 crores for the rights. This makes “Kushi” the most expensive Vijay Deverakonda film to be sold to an OTT platform. Notably, Deverakonda’s previous outing, “Liger,” where he shared the screen with Ananya Panday, was a box office disappointment. Directed by Puri Jagannadh, the action romance managed to gross only 60.80 crore worldwide against a budget of Rs 90 crore. In comparison, “Kushi” has outperformed “Liger”IL by a significant margin.

Netflix India made the exciting announcement of “Kushi’s” OTT release on September 24, sharing a vibrant poster featuring Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Vijay Deverakonda on their Instagram page. The caption read, “Now screaming, kicking, and giggling with Khushi because Kushi is coming to Netflix. Arrives on 1 October in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi.” This multi-lingual release is sure to delight fans of Vijay and Samantha across India.

The journey of “Kushi” has been nothing short of eventful. The film was initially announced back in 2019, with an expected release date in December 2022. However, the production faced delays due to Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s health issues. She was diagnosed with myositis, an autoimmune condition, which understandably led to a pause in filming.
