Kanpur, In a shocking incident that unfolded on an open playground in Rahti Dera village of Ghatampur, a 17-year-old boy stands accused of strangling a 14-year-old boy after losing his wicket in a cricket match. The victim tragically lost his life on the pitch, prompting an immediate search for the accused and his brother, who reportedly assisted in the assault. Reports suggest that the accused became upset and refused to leave the pitch after being clean-bowled by the victim. A heated argument ensued between the two young players, escalating into a physical confrontation when the accused called upon his brother for support. Together, they unleashed a violent assault on the victim, pinning him to the ground and strangling him. Alerted by other boys present at the ground, the victim’s family rushed to the scene after hearing about the incident. They promptly transported the injured boy to Ghatampur hospital, where doctors, unfortunately, pronounced him dead. Overwhelmed with grief, the family returned home with their beloved son’s lifeless body.

The alarming incident came to light when other boys present on the ground informed the victim’s family about the assault. Rushing to the scene, the family found the victim lying lifeless and immediately transported him to Ghatampur Hospital. Tragically, the doctors at the hospital pronounced his untimely death.

Upon returning home with their deceased loved one, the victim’s family received word that the local police intended to take possession of the body for postmortem examination. However, the family vehemently resisted, demanding the presence of the district magistrate or a senior police official at the site. In a desperate plea for justice, they refused to perform the last rites until the accused were apprehended.

After hours of persuasion by the police, the victim’s family finally relented and agreed to an autopsy. They subsequently filed a formal complaint at the Ghatampur Kotwali police station, prompting the initiation of an investigation into the tragic incident. The authorities wasted no time in registering a First Information Report (FIR) under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and began conducting raids to detain the accused and his brother.
