Followed by the several celebrities of Tamil cinema who condemned the makers “Karuppar Koottam” for abusing Kandha sashti Kavasam” of lord Murugan, Kamal haasan, actor turned politician and leader of Makkal Needhi Maiam party, opened on the issue ongoing “Karuppar Kootam” and “Periyar” statue issue through a tweet. He said that a rational and advanced society would co-exist with the people who has the belief of their own. “Hatred politics and Sectarianism is not our identity. Don’t think of ruling Tamil nadu by dividing it” the actor said in his tweet.

This tweet of the actor was also written in a way of addressing the recent incident took place in Coimbatore where a group of men poured “Saffron” paint on “Periyaar” statue. “Karuppar Koottam”, a youtube channel, caught in controversy after the makers of it created several videos allegedly abusing the Hindu religion and the Gods of it, mainly targeting Lord Murugan. One of their recent video on “Kandha sashti Kavasam” of lord Murugan created huge outrage among the followers of Hindu religion. Surendar natarajan, narrator of the show alleged that “Kandha Sashti Kavasam” is abusing lord Murugan and the author of it degraded him with unnecessary requirements. The video went extremely viral and people who belong to Hindu organisations filed case against him. They demanded arrest against Surendar and asked police officials to permanently ban their youtube channel “Karuppar kootam”.

Actor Prasanna, Actress Kasthuri, Director and actor Lakshmy Ramakrishnan, Director Gaurav and several other cinema personalities condemned the video made by the youtubers. Now, the latest one to join the list is Kamal haasan. Though the actor posted the tweet to keep the agitated situation calm, it didn’t go well with many. Many accused him for the delayed reaction and alleged that he is reacting only after the “Periyar” issue took place.
