Indian pacer Jaspirit Bumrah made his presence in social media platforms for the first time after the finals of World Test Championship and got the same treatment as other senior players. The happy picture he uploaded with his wife Sanjana Ganesan received flak from the fans of Indian cricket team who are still upset due to the loss at the finals of WTC. Many questioned how he moved on so easily from the loss and one of the fans went on to demand a “Virgin” Bumrah referring to the form Bumrah maintained prior the break he took to get married.

After two successful years of Test cricket, India stumbled at the last hurdle and lost the final match against New Zealand. Indian captain Virat Kohli said that he believes that Test cricket is a process and added that the nuances of the format cannot be fully utilised through just one match, especially when it’s to determine the champions of Test cricket.

India lost the World Test Championship Finals to New Zealand after failing score enough runs in their second innings. The team got all out for 170 runs and the Blackcaps needed just 139 runs to win in the finals. The solid partnership of senior batsman Ross Taylor and Captain Kane Williamson made things easier for the New zealand team. Losing just two wickets in the fourth innings, the team registered their victory in the inaugural World test Championship tournament.

Fans of team India who are known for their emotional bonding towards the game cricket, started blaming Kohli and co for the back to back losses at ICC knock out games. Last time, India won an ICC tournament in the year 2013 and it was under MS Dhoni’s captaincy. The team won the ICC Champions Trophy in England in 2013 and failed to win 2014 T20 World Cup, 2015 World Cup, 2016 T20 World Cup, 2017 Champions Trophy and 2019 World Cup.

Days after the finals, leading Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah who failed to pick a single wicket at the main match, came up with a selfie post with his wife in his social media handles. “Smiling at you” read the caption of Jasprit Bumrah for the picture in which he and his wife were smiling. Majority number of fans started venting their emotions out after seeing the post. “we are crying because of you. Atleast don’t write such captions to hurt us” a fan said whereas another one wrote “smiling after taking some wickets would be nice” referring to the WTC loss.
