Users of social media platforms has been expressing their condolence messages after a video of two teen boys speeding their bike and losing control that led to their death. The video went viral with news portals reporting about the loss of two lives due to over speed. The two boys didn’t have license and are just 19 and 17 year old, according to reports.

The viral video suggests that the two boys went for a speed of 114 kilometres per hour and lost control after witnessing a truck on their way. The incident happened after they rammed their vehicle into a road median at Taramani in Chennai while trying to avoid crashing on the truck. Camera the kids attached in their helmet in order to record the speed of their bike, captured the fatal accident as well.

The deceased has been identified as Praveen and Hari of Taramani and they went for a ride on 100-feet road in their locality. They were planning to drive on OMR and record it on their camera. The 2 minute 22 seconds long videos shows the kids suffering the accident just 20 seconds after starting their bike. Rest of the video shows people gathering, calling for an ambulance and arrival of police to the spot.

Praveen was in College first year while Hari completed his class 12 awaiting admission for college. They were driving a sports motorbike that could go upto 130 kmph, Police officials said. The bike was purchased by Praveen’s parents just few months ago. Praveen did not possess a driving license, said police. “While Praveen rode the bike, Hari was riding pillion. When the bike hit 114 kmph, they had reached near the overhead railway track at Taramani” said a senior Police officer.

At the moment, a minivan coming from the opposite direction, made a U-turn through the opening in the road median. Trying to avoid crashing into the vehicle, Praveen hit the median in high speed and both were thrown off the vehicle in the impact.

They were rushed to Royapettah Government Hospital where they were declared dead on arrival. The Guindy traffic investigation Police have registered a case. Quoting eyewitnesses, Police said the helmet along with camera got detached and fell apart in the impact. The incident caused various kind of reactions in the social media platforms with many expressing their condolence for the kids. People also expressed their disappointment over the kids for speeding the vehicle above the limited speed.

Helmet fine should be last in list, give priority to punish other offences.
Over speeding & over loading, without license insurance should be heavily fined & vehicle ceased.
