Instagram is a social media platform that allows users to share photos and videos with their followers. The Ludhiana Police made headlines as they arrested a popular Instagram influencer, Jasneet Kaur, also known as Rajbir Kaur, on charges of blackmailing and extortion. Kaur, who boasts nearly two lakh followers on Instagram and has multiple social media accounts, including a Telegram account, has been accused of blackmailing her social media friends for money.

The Assistant Commissioner of Police, Ludhiana (West), Jasroop Kaur Batth, confirmed the arrest and revealed that Kaur’s male accomplice, Lucky Sandhu, has also been charged in the case. The arrest came after a complaint was filed by a local businessman who claimed that he was being blackmailed by Kaur. Allegedly, Kaur would befriend wealthy men on social media, particularly those with money, and then record their chats before demanding money from them. When the victims refused to comply, she would allegedly threaten them with the help of gangsters.

The case against Kaur was registered on April 1 at the Model Town police station in Ludhiana, and the police have seized her luxury BMW car and a mobile phone as evidence. Kaur was produced before a court, which remanded her to two days in police custody for further investigation.

Further scrutiny into Kaur’s background has revealed that she has a criminal history. In 2018, she was arrested on similar charges in Mohali, indicating a pattern of illegal activities.
