“India Has No National Language Mam” – Online Class Interaction Between Kid & Teacher Is Trending

A video of a school kid informing her teacher that India has no national language after hearing that Hindi is our national language is going viral in the social media platforms. The interaction took place during an online class in which the teacher could be seen teaching students that Hindi which is widely used in the north part of our country is our national language.

A number of controversies had took place in state Tamil nadu whenever the imposition of language Hindi happened in any form. During October 2021, a huge outrage erupted after an employee of food delivering app Zomato insisted a Tamil speaking individual to learn a “little” bit of Hindi while replying to a complaint. A twitter user named Vikash who didn’t get what he ordered from the Zomato online food delivery platform, tried to get refund from the app. In return, what all he received is a schooling from a Zomato employee on why everyone in India should learn a little bit of “Hindi”. A couple of months before that, A twitter user named “Jai Hind” raised a complaint in social media against the website of Employees’ provident fund Organisation, India for publishing important notifications in Hindi language. Tagging the official twitter account of EPFO, he asked them to stop imposing Hindi language on users who doesn’t know Hindi. He questioned how the authorities assumed that non-Hindi users could read and understand what they have published in the website. He also asked them to stop harassing the “Native language users”.

Now, a video recording of a school kid teaching her teacher about India having no national language is trending. “Hindi is the national language of India” the teacher could be heard saying. Replying to her, the student who is called as Catherine by the teacher, says “Mam, I want to say something, India has no national language. It has many languages Malayalam, Telugu, Tamil” to which the teacher could be heard responding “Yes, very good Catherine”

Father of the child shared the video in his twitter timeline, writing “When the teacher said “Hindi is our national language, Our “Vaandu” waited for her turn and explained India has no national language. She remembered the words I said a long time ago and nailed it on the right time” in his twitter timeline.

“I felt proud when wife called me and informed about it to me. I slept only after hearing it at 1 AM when the class recording got uploaded. Let’s do our duty of passing our knowledge about our land, language and rights to our children without fail”  he said in his tweet.
