An old video of critically acclaimed filmmaker Balaji Sakthivel opening on why he rejected Sivakarthikeyan to do the lead role in his “Vazhaku Enn 18/9” is trending in social media platforms now. In the viral video, Balaji Sakthivel while delivering his speech on a stage, said that he rejected Siva because of his comical face and admired the actor’s growth today. The “Ethir Neechal” hero could be seen listening to the director’s statement in the video.

Balaji Sakthivel is known for making critically acclaimed yet successful films. Debuting to Kollywood film industry through Vikram’s “Samurai”, Balaji’s second film “Kaadhal” became a huge blockbuster during it’s release time. He went on to make films such as “Kalloori”, “Vazhakku Enn 18/9” and started venturing into acting through Vettri Maaran’s “Asuran”.
Balaji is known for introducing new actors to film industry. Despite of acting in “Boys” as one of the boys, “Kaadhal” acted as Bharath’s debut film as lead. Actress Sandhya also made her debut under Balaji’s directorial through the same film. The protagonist who appeared in “Kalloori” is also a debutant and the filmmaker introduced Sri to Tamil film industry through “Vazhaku Enn” as well.
However, in a stage, the filmmaker said that people only know about the good actors he introduced to Tamil film industry but there’s no chance for them to know about the actor’s he rejected so far. Balaji Sakthivel revealed that he rejected Sivakarthikeyan when he attended the audition to play the role of Sri in “Vazhaku Enn”.
“You people only know about myself casting new actors for my film. There’s no chance for you to know about how many new faces I rejected” Balaji Sakthivel said. “Those who got rejected are the only ones who know about it. One of the stars growth is sky high today. That big hero whom I rejected was Sivakarthikeyan” Balaji Sakthivel said.
“I initially selected him and replaced him with Sree as I felt Sivakarthikeyan’s face looks comical” the filmmaker was seen saying in the event video of which is trending among the fan pages of the “Maan Karate” star.
