In the case filed by Sivakarthikeyan against producer K.G Gnanavel Raja of Studio Greens for not paying his full salary after acting in his movie “Mr.Local”, a new development has been made as the producer countered Siva’s accusation saying that he lost Rs. 20 crore due to that film. Raja demanded the case to be dismissed with Siva paying him a sum of amount as fine.

Days ago, Actor Sivakarthikeyan filed case against producer KG Gnanavel Raja of Studio Greens claiming that an amount of Rs. 4 crore of his salary for acting in the movie “Mr.Local” is pending. The actor approached the court to prevent Gnanavel Raja from distributing the films of Simbu and Vikram before paying him his salary.

Mr. Local released in the year 2019 and the actor paired up with actress Nayanthara in the film with actors such as Sathish, Radhika leading the supporting cast. Directed by “SMS” fame M. Rajesh, the film didn’t do well in the box office as per the expectations. The project which was bankrolled by Gnanavel Raja, marked the second collaboration between Sivakarthikeyan and Nayanthara after “Velaikaran”.

Recently, the actor has approached the court claiming that Gnanavel Raja failed to pay him his full salary for acting in the film. Siva said that the film producer committed him for the project for Rs. 15 crore and has paid only Rs. 11 crore so far. The petition of the actor has also asked the court to direct the film producer to pay the TDS tax for the amount he was paid.

Through his petition, Siva also asked the court to stop Gnanavel from release the films that he produced and is planning distribute. The actor wanted the OTT projects of the film producer to get hold as well.

Now, in his counter petition, producer Gnanavel Raja has said that he committed Sivakarthikeyan to do a film for him for Rs. 1 crore salary in the year 2013 and paid him an advance amount of Rs. 10 lakh. The film couldn’t be progressed at that time and the producer committed Sivakarthikeyan again in the year 2018 for Rs. 15 crore salary, according to his petition.

The producer said that he has paid Rs. 12 crore and 78 lakh to Sivakarthikeyan for acting in “Mr.Local” film. “But Sivakarthikeyan said that he didn’t like the story of Mr. Local and insisted on Rajesh directing the film. The film was made only due to his insistence and I have faced a loss of Rs. 20 crore because of that film” said the producer in his petition according to Filmibeat.

Further, Gnanavel Raja alleged that Sivakarthikeyan pressured him to pay Rs. 2 crore and 40 lakh with tax without mercy. When distributors who faced loss due to the film approached, Sivakarthikeyan said that he didn’t want Rs. 2.40 crore and wanted Gnanavel Raja not to involve him in the distributors issue, according to reports.
