Actor cum politician Vijay Vasanth revealed that he is helping the people of his constituency by using his own money and garnered the attention of Twitter users. He made it public while replying to a twitter user who asked how he is managing to spend money to people when central government has stopped Members of Parliament Local Area Development funds. A post of Vijay Vasanth updating about providing an ambulance to a government hospital in Nagerkoil caused the conversation between himself and the random twitter user.

Actor cum politician Vijay Vasanth who contested in the Kanyakumari constituency on behalf of Indian National Congress, defeated BJP’s Pon Radhakrishnan by 1,34,344 votes. He garnered 5, 67, 250 votes whereas the BJP candidate managed to get 4,32, 906 votes. Vijay contested in Kanyakumari after the demise of his father Vasantha Kumar who died of COVID 19 infection. Vasantha kumar was acting as a member of parliament for Kanyakumari while he was alive. On behalf of Congress and DMK alliance, Vijay Vasanth replaced his father and contested opposing BJP’s Pon Radhakrishnan who got defeated by Vasantha Kumar last time.

On Thursday, Vijay uploaded a post in his official twitter account, updating about the ambulance he provided to a government hospital in Nagercoil. “To help the patients of COVID 19 virus, an ambulance was provided to the Government hospital that is located in Asaripallam of Nagercoil. We are planning to provide more in future by discovering the need of the people” Vijay said in his tweet by writing “நாகர்கோவில் ஆசாரிப்பள்ளம் அரசு மருத்துவமனைக்கு கொரோனா நோயாளிகளின் வசதிக்காக ஆம்புலன்ஸ் ஒன்று வழங்கப்பட்டது. வரும் நாட்களில் மக்களின் தேவைகளை ஆராய்ந்து இன்னும் ஏராளமான சேவைகள் செய்ய திட்டமிட்டுள்ளோம்.”

Replying to this post, a follower asked how Vijay is managing to do these services when the central government stopped the funds for Members of Parliament Local Area Development. “MPLAD fund எல்லாம் மத்திய அரசு நிப்பாட்டி வச்சிருக்காங்க. நீங்க மட்டும் எப்படி manage பண்ணுறீங்க?” he asked.

“Being a member of parliament, I realized that the process of receiving funds will get delayed and did this facility with my own expense. Let’s do for people to the fullest of our capacity” Vijay said in his tweet by writing “நாடாளுமன்ற உறுப்பினர் என்ற நிலையில் நிதி வசதிகள் பெற தாமதம் ஏற்படும் என்பதை கருத்தில் கொண்டு இந்த வசதியை எனது சொந்த செலவில் செய்துள்ளேன். நம்மால் முடிந்தவரை மக்களுக்காக செய்வோம்.”
