To actor Prithviraj Sukumaran who is currently busy promoting his upcoming film “Kaduva”, landed in Chennai and met the reporters of Tamil nadu to promote his film in the Tamil speaking state. While answering to the reporters, one of them referred to a year old tweet of the actor and asked him how he expects Tamil people to support his film. The tweet is about Prithviraj insisting on the decommission of Mullaperiyar dam. The tweet received widespread flak from the people of Tamil nadu as decommissioning the dam would prevent few districts of Tamil nadu getting water through the dam.

Answering to the reporter’s question, Prithviraj said that it is an interesting question but answering to it would completely change the context of the press meet. Prithviraj further said that it is a promotional event for “Kaduva” and it would be fine if the discussions made on the same.

On October 24, 2021, Prithviraj came up with a tweet in his official twitter handle, favoring the decommission of Mullaperiyar dam. A number of political personalities and other few celebrities from Malayalam film industry voiced out for the same. The “Mozhi” actor, in his tweet, said “Regardless of what the facts and findings are or will be, there is no reason or excuse for this 125 year old dam to exist as a functioning structure! It’s about time we put politics and economics aside and do what is right. 🙏”

Now, 7 months after posting the tweet, Prithviraj reached Chennai to promote his upcoming film “Kaduva”. In the press meet, a reporter asked “You recently posted a tweet regarding the Mullaperiyaar dam. At that time, many Tamil fans tweeted against you. In this situation, how are you expecting Tamil fans to support your Kaduva movie ??”

Replying to the question, Prithvi said “It’s really an interesting question. If I answer this question now, headline of this entire press meet will be about it. I came here to promote my Kaduva movie. So let’s talk about that alone”
