After being forced to undergo abortion for fourteen times by her live-in partner in a span of 8 years, a 33 year old woman committed suicide. Police are searching for the male to nab him and he is currently absconding, according to reports. He has been charged of abortion, forced abortion and abetment of suicide. The incident happened in Jaitpur, Southeast Delhi.

According to Police reports, the woman’s body was found hanging inside a house. She was shifted to a hospital where the doctor declared her as brought dead. Esha Pandey, Deputy Commissioner of Police said they were handed over a suicide note and viscera by the Doctor.

“The suicide note said that she was living with a person named Gautham Kumar Singh for eight long years. He had entered into a physical relationship with her in the pretext of marriage. He, however, had now refused to marry her and left her with no other option, but to commit suicide” Pandey said and went on to add that a case was registered at Jaitpur Police Station.

“The stool used for hanging and the deceased’s mobile were seized. After preliminary inquiry, it was revealed that the woman had been living separately from her husband for the past seven, eight years” she said. The woman’s husband works at a private firm at South Extensions was also called for questioning who told police that he and his wife parted ways eight years ago, the police said.

Police officials also said that they are verifying the claim in the note that the woman had been forced to undergo abortion 14 times. The victim’s brother said to the media that he didn’t know about the accused much. “My sister had two daughters, aged 14 and 12. Both lived in a hostel” he said and added that she has been facing financial problems.
