Hindi speaking girl, in Twitter, shared a series of screenshots and said that people from South India are illiterates. In the screenshots, we could see her texting a user , presumably a male, that she will post his videos. In the reply, he said that he doesn’t know Hindi and asked her to text in English. Asking him whether he is a Malayali, she went on to post the screenshots and called South Indians as “Illiterates”.

The conversation was initially friendly and informal, with the two discussing about posting videos. When the first person mentioned that he is weak in Hindi, the second person suggested that they could help. When she asked his whereabout, he replied that he is from Madurai. She questioned back asking whether he is a “Mallu” to which he clarified that Mallu is different from Tamil.

When she asked him to learn Hindi, the other person replied that he doesn’t need it. In return, he asked whether she knows Tamil and she said that she doesn’t know the language but want to learn. He offered to teach the language and said that he will think about learning Hindi.

Sharing the screenshots of the chat, the twitter user named “D” said “south indians are literally nothing but literates who are the most illiterates”

The tweet garnered wide attention among the users of the micro blogging social media site. Comparing to the likes and reactions, many quote tweeted her tweet and slammed her for generalizing the people of South India. More than 1000 people quoted the tweet to opine their views whereas 300 plus Twitter users liked the tweet so far.
