Renowned Malayalam actor Kunchacko Boban recently starred in the film “Padmini,” directed by Seena Hegde, alongside Aparna Balamurali, Madonna Sebastian, and Vincy Aloshious. While the movie has been performing well in theaters since its release on July 14, the film’s producer, Suvin K Varkey, took to social media to express his dissatisfaction with the actor’s lack of promotional efforts. Varkey alleged that Boban received a fee of Rs 2.5 crore for a 25-day shoot but failed to participate in any TV interviews or programs to promote the film. The Profitable Affair: Suvin Varkey began his Instagram post by thanking the audience for embracing “Padmini” and expressing gratitude for the positive responses and reviews. He clarified that despite the questions raised about the lack of promotion for the film, “Padmini” had been a profitable venture for the production team. Varkey emphasized that regardless of the box office numbers, the film had generated profits.

The Need for Stardom’s Charm: While acknowledging the film’s profitability, Varkey expressed disappointment with Kunchacko Boban’s limited promotional efforts. As a filmmaker and content creator, Varkey believed that the response from theaters was crucial, and the film required the star power of its lead actor to attract audiences. However, Boban allegedly did not grant any TV interviews or participate in promotional programs for “Padmini.” Varkey claimed that the entire promotion plan, including scheduled appearances, had been rejected based on the opinion of a marketing consultant appointed by the actor’s wife. The producer highlighted that this situation was not unique and that several producers of Boban’s previous films had faced similar challenges.

Differential Treatment: Varkey criticized the actor for showing more enthusiasm when he was a co-producer of a film compared to when external producers were involved. He claimed that Boban would actively participate in TV interviews and appearances if he had a stake in the production but would neglect these responsibilities when working with external producers. Varkey questioned the actor’s priorities, suggesting that Boban preferred spending time with friends in Europe over promoting a film for which he received a substantial fee of 2.5 crores for just 25 days of shooting.
