Mahesh Theekshana, a Sri lanka based mystery spinner was bought by the team for Rs. 70 lakh. The 21 year old cricketer’s inclusion irked a number of online fans which is evident through their tweets in the online platforms. The main reason behind the online outrage is that the Sinhalese soldiers are accused of having committed war crimes against Tamilians during the military action against LTTTTE in the year 2019.
“Remove the player from the franchise or Remove the word “Chennai” from your franchise name. If you feel this boy is more important for you than the emotions of Tamils, you don’t need to represent Chennai in IPL” a follower vented his emotions out whereas another one said “Tamils don’t want Sri Lankan players just like country doesn’t want Pakistan players #Boycott_ChennaiSuperKings”

Due to terrorist activities, India has banned Pakistani cricket players from participating in IPL but Sri Lankan Navy kills Tamil fishermen and SL was responsible for a genocide of our blood brothers and sisters, yet CSK recruits SL players#Boycott_ChennaiSuperKings

It will be a disgrace to Tamils worldwide if we let this happen.
If y’all want Tamils to look sports just as sports, then let Pakistanis play in IPL .
Don’t be hypocrites.
