Groom from Bihar forgot to attend his own wedding due to excessive amount of alcohol consumption. In response, the Bride called off the wedding as her family was waiting for him to arrive for a long time during the most important venue of her life.
A strange event unfolded in Sultanganj village in Bhagalpur, Bihar, as a groom failed to show up for his own wedding. The reason behind this was the fact that the groom had gotten drunk the night before and completely forgotten about his wedding the next day. As a result, the bride and her family waited for the groom to arrive, but he never did.
The next day, when the groom finally regained consciousness and reached the bride’s house, she refused to marry him. She stated that she couldn’t spend her life with someone who wasn’t responsible enough to remember his own wedding. In addition, the bride’s family demanded that the groom’s family return the money they had spent on the wedding arrangements. The bride’s relatives even held some of the groom’s relatives hostage.
Thankfully, the police were notified and they arrived on the scene to calm the situation down. According to police sources, the matter was eventually resolved peacefully.
A comparable event occurred in Assam where a groom who was inebriated fell asleep during the wedding ceremony. The groom and his father arrived at the wedding location visibly intoxicated. Upon witnessing the groom’s condition, the bride decided to terminate the wedding immediately.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident in the Tirva Kotwali area of Kannauj district in Uttar Pradesh, a groom cancelled his wedding after discovering that the bride’s 12th grade marks were not up to his standards. However, the bride’s father accused the groom of using this as an excuse to demand more dowry from them.
This incident highlights the issue of dowry and how it still plays a significant role in many Indian marriages. Despite being illegal, dowry demands are still made by many families in India, which can lead to pressure, coercion, and even violence.
Moreover, these incidents also highlight the importance of responsibility and accountability in relationships. Forgetting your own wedding is a clear sign of irresponsibility, and the bride’s refusal to marry the groom for this reason shows the value she places on responsibility and dependability in a partner.
These three incidents reflect the complexity and challenges that still exist within the Indian marriage system. However, they also showcase the courage and determination of individuals who stand up for their rights and demand better treatment. Hopefully, these incidents will serve as a wake-up call to address the issues of dowry and responsibility in Indian marriages, leading to a more equitable and just society for all.
