In the recently held “Tamil Directors Round table discussion”, renowned filmmaker Gautham Vasudev Menon opened on how he received the troll against him that took place in the movie “Love Today”. In the discussion, Archana Kalpathi who produced the film took part and the “Vettaiyadu Vilayaadu” maker said that he himself would have acted in the role if he got invited.

In the film “Love Today”, a scene that made the audience to laugh their heart out is when Uthaman Pradeep gets into the Instagram handle of Nikitha, his girl friend. Among the many boys who are stalking her through their messages, a parody character of Gautham Vasudev Menon appears and tells poems and pick up lines to impress Nikitha.

The role was played Gurubaai, a youtuber who rose to fame after trolling Gautham Vasudev Menon by imitating him through one of his videos for “Plip Plip” youtube channel. In the Tamil directors round table conference, Gautham Menon expressed his admiration over the success of “Love Today” and at one point mentioned about the scene, generously adding that he would have done the role himself if asked.

“If you see the film “Love Today”, you know why it’s working” said Gautham menon to appreciate Archana Kalpathi for choosing to produce the film among all the big films. “Antha Padathula actually enna ottiruppanga” (they trolled me in the movie actually) the filmmaker further said. “I thought if they called me, I would have myself done that role” he said which left Archana and other celebrities in the hall in splits.

“Love Today” movie became a subject to huge accolades from fans and experts of Indian film industry. Pradeep Ranganathan who directed and performed in the film, is currently basking in the success of his second film and is rumoured to direct Thalapathy Vijay in his next film.

“Love Today”, reportedly collected more than Rs. 70 crore against the budget of just Rs. 5 crore and became one of the most profitable films of the year 2022. In the Telugu region, the film is expected to end it’s theatrical run with Rs. 18-20 crore gross.

The film starring Pradeep Ranganathan and Ivana got released in theatres recently and is still running successfully among the audience of Tamil nadu. Along with the lead stars, Yogi Babu, Sathyaraj, Radhika Sarathkumar, Raveena and many youtube stars were included in the cast list. Produced by AGS, the film impressed it’s target audience and is receiving positive reception from fans and from the critics.

The film’s plot revolves around Uthaman Pradeep and Nikitha played by Pradeep and Ivana respectively, seeking permission from the latter’s father to get married. Father of Nikitha wants the couple to exchange their cell phones for one day and use it. He says that if they still want to get married the next day, he will give them the permission they want.

After the duo come to know about the dark secrets of their personal lives after going through each other’s cell phones, they scold each other and their relationship is about to end. The film’s climax relies on how they managed to reunite, despite all the barriers.

Apart from the film’s engaging screenplay and relatable content, performance of the artists were also got highly appreciated by the audience and critics. After fans completed celebrating the film in big screens, on Thursday, it got released on Netflix.
