Cheran is an Indian film director known for his works in Tamil cinema. He is a four time National Film Award winner for Vetri Kodi Kattu (2000), Autograph (2004) and Thavamai Thavamirunthu (2005). He won four tamil Nadu State Film Awards and five South Filmfare awards.

2004 he produced and directed the film Autograph besides enacting the lead role in it. The film reached cult state and inspired many filmmakers. Many films including Malayalam blockbuster Premam resembled this film and many people rumoured that it is a copy of it where other set of people contradicted it by naming it as parallel thought.

After his family issue where The director has been against his daughter’s relationship with Chandru, a dancer in a reality show, Cheran’s directorial career became a bit dull. He claimed that Chandru had already cheated several women and had even proposed to his elder daughter through a social networking site.

He is considered as one of the best directors of his time as the films he direct would not only concern on commercial benefits but will also talk social values. His absent in the film industry made many admirers of him to raise question about his upcoming projects. The way they praised his earlier works and asking for more works like them instigated the creator in big time.

Now almost after 5 years , the director has announced an update about his upcoming project. Though he did not opened any detail about the film, the director has said that he finished shooting the film.

The director took his official twitter account to announce the matter where he wrote “எனது படைப்புகள் ஏன் வரவில்லை என்ற விசாரிப்புகள் நாளுக்குநாள் டுவிட்டரில் அதிகமாவது எனக்கு நம்பிக்கையையும் உத்வேகத்தையும் கொடுக்கிறது.. நல்ல படைப்புகளைத்தேடும் அனைவருக்கும் நன்றி… ஒரு திரைப்படம் இயக்கி முடித்துவிட்டேன்.. வரும் டிச 12ல் முறையாகதெரிவிப்பேன்….” (It gives me confidence and inspiring me a lot on seeing the queries about my creations.
