It is with great sadness that we report yet another tragedy involving online rummy. A heartbroken man from KK Nagar, Chennai, took his own life after losing a significant amount of money playing the game. Suresh, who had been playing rummy for a long time due to his passion for the game, reportedly lost around 16 lakh rupees.
According to reports, Suresh kept putting money into the game in an attempt to recover his losses but was unable to do so. As a result, he became increasingly heartbroken and distressed. He wrote a letter to his wife, Radha, before taking his own life. In the letter, he expressed his deep regret and sorrow for what had happened. He asked for forgiveness from his family and requested that his wife take care of their children.
Suresh also wrote to Chief Minister Mukherjee Stalin, begging him to ban online rummy. He explained that many people like him had lost everything due to their addiction to the game. He pleaded with the Chief Minister to take action to prevent others from experiencing the same fate.
Sadly, Suresh’s story is not unique. In recent years, there has been a significant increase in the number of suicides related to online gambling and gaming in India. The rise of online platforms and the ease with which people can access these games has made it difficult for many individuals to resist the temptation to play.
Many experts believe that the rise of online gambling and gaming has led to an increase in addiction and mental health issues. The ease with which people can access these games means that they can easily lose track of time and money, leading to financial ruin and other negative consequences.
In response to the growing concern over online gambling and gaming, several states in India have taken steps to regulate the industry. Some have even banned certain types of games, including online rummy. However, many experts believe that more needs to be done to address the root causes of addiction and to provide support for those who are struggling with mental health issues.
In the letter, he expressed his regret and asked for forgiveness for not being able to provide for his family due to his addiction to online rummy. He acknowledged that he had a beautiful family, but he failed to utilize it properly. Suresh stated that he did not deserve to live and that he was going to die.
Suresh also made a plea to the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M.K. Stalin, to ban online rummy. He stated that many people have lost their families due to their addiction to the game and that he did not want anyone else to suffer the same fate. He pleaded with the Chief Minister to take action and prevent others from ending up in a similar situation.
Here’s the letter Suresh wrote before taking the extreme decision :
In the case of Suresh, it is clear that his addiction to online rummy had a devastating impact on his life and the lives of those around him. His tragic death is a stark reminder of the need for greater awareness and support for those struggling with addiction and mental health issues. It is also a call to action for policymakers to take the necessary steps to address this growing problem.
We urge anyone who is struggling with addiction or mental health issues related to online gambling or gaming to seek help. There are resources available, including counseling services, support groups, and helplines that can provide guidance and assistance. We must all work together to prevent more tragedies like the one that occurred in KK Nagar, Chennai.
