Earlier, in the 35th match of the IPL 2018, CSK won the toss and decided to field against RCB at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune. RCB were in the pursuit of remaining alive in the tournament to qualify for the playoffs, but most of the batsmen proved damp squib. RCB batsmen surrendered before CSK bowlers, especially Ravindra Jadeja and Harbhajan Singh who wreaked havoc by taking key wickets at regular intervals. Parthiv Patel did put up a fight and contributed a crucial fifty but he too fell. It looked as if RCB would not even last till 20 overs but Tim Southee’s cameo was crucial in the later half of the innings as the kiwi scored 36 runs, the second highest score in RCB’s batting. A few extras came in overthrows but still, CSK managed to restrict RCB on a low total of 127 runs.
In this bowling-fielding performance the skipper of CSK MS Dhoni’s bowling change at right time and fielding placement did a major role in restricting RCB within 127. Mahendra Singh Dhoni is well known for this right from the initial stage of his captaincy career where he will go for very rare choices and succeeds in it effortlessly. In today’s match it became evident in a candid video which comprises all the MSD’s Captaincy moments. They are very graceful and professional and on some occasions we can even witness Dhoni signalling his fielders in a minute way to make his move secret to the opponent batsmen who are on strike.
