“Enthiran” Movie Was Stolen Case Madras High Court recently dismissed a civil suit that alleged the script of the Rajinikanth-starring film ‘Enthiran’ was stolen from a story written by Aarur Tamil Nadan in 1996. The suit, which had been filed in 2010, named the film’s director S. Shankar and producer Kalanidhi Maran of Sun Pictures as defendants. However, Justice S. Sounthar found no merit in the suit and ordered Nadan to pay the costs of the suit to the defendants.
The verdict comes after a lengthy trial during which witnesses were examined to determine the authenticity of the claim that the filmmakers had stolen Nadan’s story. The plaintiff had sought a declaration that he was the author and copyright owner of the ‘Enthiran’ story, titled ‘Jugiba,’ which he alleged was plagiarized. Additionally, he had claimed damages of 31 crore from the director and producer.
