Emerging actress Ritika Singh who is known among Tamil audience for appearing in films such as “Irudhi Chuttru”, “Oh My Kadavule”, in a recent public interaction, expressed her disappointment over the injustice that are taking place against women. She also talked about how women are being taken for granted and about how female celebrities are becoming subject to double meaning jokes and memes. Ritika said that celebrities are also having family in social media and the double meaning jokes that are being made based on their pictures, would break their hearts.

Ritika Singh impressed audience in big time through her “Oh My Kadavule” in which she player the character named “Anu”. The romantic comedy film became one of the very few blockbusters of the year it got released. Ritika Singh has been winning the hearts of audience for the scripts she selects. For her performance in Irudhi Suttru, Ritika won the a Special Mention at the 63rd National Film Awards, and became the first actress, who did not dub for her role, to be recognised at the National Awards.

Being a trained kickboxer and mixed martial artist, Ritika Singh was initially approached by director Sudha Kongara who saw her in the Super Fight League. It is notable that Ritika trained as a kickboxer and as a mixed martial artist since childhood, under the guidance of her father. She made her debut in a national competition by competing in the 52 kg category at the 2009 Asian Indoor Games as a kickboxer.

Aprt from “Irudhi Suttru” and “Oh My Kadavuke”, Ritika acted in films such as “Aandavan Kattalai”, “Shivalinga” as well. She is pretty much active in social media platforms, updating about her upcoming works, workout updates etc. During one of her recent public interaction, the young actress talked about how women are becoming subject to sexual harassment.

“When stuffs (sexual harassment) like this happens, it changes you for life. It leaves scars on your soul and body. When you grow up, when you act in a certain way, it comes from that one incident or many incidents” Ritika Singh says in the video. “It happens so often than we know of. Even babies are not spared. It is extreme heart breaking to know about such incidents, it happens to both male and female children” the actress said.

Ritika also expressed her concern over school going children and talked about the importance of teaching most basic things such as “Respect” to the children of these days. The actress also explained how girls from poor background are being subjected to sexual harassment just because there will be no one to raise voice for them.

“Women are not objects, we are not properties. Even in social media, if you see, they just take out pictures and start doing horrible memes and double meaning things. It is just heart breaking to see because I have a family, I have friends and I have my brother and if they see my picture being misused, they will get heart broken. That needs to change. Everybody deserves “Respect”. No matter if they are celebrity or someone else from poor background” Ritika said and also talked about how important to teach children about self defense from school level.
