“Doesn’t Make Any Sense”- Theatre Owners Criticized This Tamil Film Producer !!

A strong buzz is doing rounds in social media platforms stating that Dhanush- Karthik Subbaraj’s five year old project “Jagame Thanthiram” is going to get a direct OTT release, despite of government allowing 100 percent occupancy in theatres. Though there is no official word from the makers yet, theatre owner and fans started criticizing producer Sashi and requesting him to reconsider his decision.

Producer Sashi Kanth who is known for producing successful films such as Tamizh Padam, Kaaviya Thalaivan, Irudhi Suttru, Vikram Vedha through his Y not studios, has bankrolled “Jagame Thandhiram” as well. Earlier, The film producer confirmed that the film is not going to stream in OTT platform while replying to one of a twitter user but now several reports emerged saying that the film is going to directly release in “Netflix” online streaming platform.

A popular online portal named Lets OTT Global said that an agreement has been singed, sealed and confirmed between the makers of “Jagame Thandhiram” and Netflix India. Lets OTT also reported that Netflix offered a huge amount for “Jagame Thanthiram” and the makers accepted it as they didn’t want to miss it.

Actor Dhanush who played the lead in “Jagame Thandhiram”, congratulated Vijay’s “Master” for going with Theatrical release. He wrote “It’s great news for cinema lovers and I hope watching movies with friends and family helps to thrive the theatre culture once again. Nothing like a theatre experience. Please take all the safety precautions and watch the film in theatres.” when the announcement arrived and JT’s release on online platform is a shock for the fans.

Producer Sashi kanth has unfollowed Dhanush in both Facebook and Instagram, according to Lets OTT based on which the online portal confirms the Netflix release of Jagame Thanthiram. Meanwhile, theatre owner of popular Ram Muthuram cinemas has posted a tweet stating that the decision of Jagame Thanthiram makers doesn’t makes any sense as government has allowed 100 % occupancy in theatres.

“Problem is not going for OTT, It is avoiding theatrical release. If the movies are not doing well on theatres, OTT can be considerable. With 100% occupancy and going for a complete OTT release doesn’t make any sense. Hope the production team reconsider their decision.” the tweet read.

“This news of #JagameThandhiram skipping theatrical release is disheartening.. Guaranteed Vada Chennai level opening given the rage the songs are. Disappointment all around !!” wrote Nikilesh Surya who manages Rohini theatres in Chennai in his tweet.

Fans of actor Dhanush also started posting tweets requesting Sashi kanth to reconsider the decision of releasing Jagame Thanthiram on OTT. Comment your views on the Dhanush-starrer getting directly released on Netflix.
