The accused, Kannan, was allegedly under the influence of alcohol when he misbehaved with the woman cop. The incident was promptly registered under Sections 353 and 354 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), which deal with assaulting or using criminal force to deter a public servant from discharging their duty and criminal assault on a woman with the intent to outrage her modesty, respectively. Additionally, the case was filed under Section 4 of the Tamil Nadu Preservation of Harassment Against Women Act, which specifically addresses harassment of women.
