Thousands of people are on streets to do last minute shopping, completely forgetting the norms of physical distancing. Koyambedu market filled with people to buy vegetables, according to reports. Almost in every street of the city, people could be seen standing in queue. Using the lockdown as reason, many outlets increased the prices of essential commodities. At the Thiruvanmiyur market too, people stood in long lines to buy essentials.
Many people who are truly maintaining social distancing are highly disappointed on seeing this behaviour of Chennai people. Filmmaker Venkat Prabhu, posted a tweet slamming the people who are crowding at the public places. He asked them whether they are going to cook “Briyaani” for all the 4 days.

“It seems people are going to buy coronavirus along with the stocks for the 4 days lockdown. Are they going to cook Biriyani for all the 4 days ?? Keep calm !! This too will pass. Panic is not good” said the filmmaker in his tweet. “Why so much panic in chennai!!? For a four days strict lock down ku stock oda serthu virus um vaangiduvaanga pola irrukey!! 🤦🏽♂️ 4 naalum biriyani samaika porangalo?!? keep calm!! Idhuvum kadandhu pogum! Panic is not good!! #staysafepeople” read his tweet.

On seeing this tweet, one of his follower wrote “Unakenna pa” in the comment section in a way of saying that a rich filmmaker like Venkat Prabhu wouldn’t have to face big problems due to such lockdowns. To his tweet, VP said that “Rasam rice” is enough for him to survive and added that safety is important right now.

However, on seeing the panic among people, Tamilnadu government has announced that fruits and vegetables shops will be open in the next four days. This change in lockdown plan baffled the people of Chennai, Madurai and Coimbatore.
