Director H. Vinoth, “Thunivu” of whom is gearing up for its release ahead of the Pongal festival, opened on how it makes him feel to see fans demanding “updates” from the first day of film’s first shoot. Vinoth said “Valimai” faced similar problems and suggested fans not to ask about updates too much.
Showing a “Missing” poster of producer Boney Kapoor which was made by fans, interviewer asked Vinoth to comment on it. The filmmaker said that Boney Kapoor sent it to him and asked him to give any kind of update to fans.
“Boney Sid’s father was a producer. Boney sir himself is a producer throughout his life. His life is filled with cinema. In his whole life, people wouldn’t have used his name as much as Ajith fans used it after he committed to produce an Ajith sir film” H. Vinoth said in the interview.
“If we take a survey in Twitter, Boney sir’s name would have been mentioned crores of time. He definitely would have enjoyed it a lot. Boney sir sent me this and asked me to give any update” he laughed and went to state about his opinion on fans demanding update in constant manner.
“For a film, we can give 6 or 7 updates that includes First Look, Motion Poster, 2 or 3 songs, a teaser, trailer or a making. If we plan 60 days prior release, we can give updates weekly once. If they start asking updates right from the beginning of film’s shoot, then everything will end in 3 months and there will be no more content” H. Vinoth further said.
“It will lead us to chop scenes from the film for promotion. That’s what happened for “Valimai”. They kept asking update and we were forced to reveal the scenes from the film. In theatre, there were less to reveal. They will also complain that the film was predictable. So, as far as “updates” ae concerned, fans should stick with general updates and must avoid asking about main content ” the filmmaker added.
