While replying to an anti-caste post of actress Kaajal Pasupathi, Director Cheran, allegedly made a statement against reservation in India and deleted the tweet immediately. Screenshot of the same is doing rounds in the micro blogging social media site and the filmmaker has blocked a number of users regarding the issue. In the screenshot, we can see the filmmaker blaming people who are spreading hatred in the name of caste and the people who are “enjoying” the offers in the name of caste.

Cheran, the three time national award winner for his filmmaking skills, surprisingly participated in Bigg Boss house and shocked everyone by lasting in the game show for 91 long days. The last film he helmed was ‘Thirumanam’ which released earlier in 2019. Cheran is also considered as one of the seasoned actors as his acting in “Autograph”, Thavamai Thavamirunthu” impressed a large number of family audience.

During his Bigg Boss stint, Cheran announced that he is going to work with Vijay Sethupathi in his next. The filmmaker is pretty much active in Twitter for past several months and his Twitter ID got verified as an official account by the Twitter management very recently. Unlike other top-tier filmmakers, Cheran is very much interactive with his followers in the micro blogging social media sites.
Now, one of his recent twitter activity got him into controversy. After the nationwide trend of “Hindi Theriyathu Poda” hashtag against Hindi imposition, a number of Twitter wished for “Saathi Vendam Poda” (We don’t want caste, get lost) hashtag to trend in the social media platform. Actress Kaajal Pasupathi who involves herself in the anti-caste campaigns that are taking place in twitter, uploaded a picture of Dr. Ambedkar with his popular quote to express her stand against casteism. “If caste defines this society, let the poison to spread in the air” the quote of Dr. Ambedkar read.

Director Cheran, replying to this post, said “If we are referring to this quote of him even after all these years, this selfish society needs to be blamed. A group that separates others in the name of caste and the people who are enjoying the “benefits” are the reason behind the existence of caste. It is not easy to remove it” his now-deleted tweet read.

This comment from the filmmaker irked many people who saw the tweet. “I feel ashamed of myself for celebrating him as a filmmaker at one period. He is so caste obsessed ?” wrote one of a twitter user on seeing this comment from Cheran.
