MK Stalin began his tenure by ordering Rs. 4,000 COVID 19 relief to 2.07 crore families and slashed the price of Aavin milk by Rs. 3 per litre from 16th of May. He also announced free bus ride for women passengers, a promise made by the DMK in the run up to the assembly election. The announcements made by the newly elected Chief minister was widely welcomed by the people of the state.

On Friday morning, DMK president MK Stalin sworn in as Chief minister of Tamil nadu at a lowkey ceremony on the lawns of Raj Bhavan in Chennai. It is the sixth time that the party DMK is forming a government in Tamil nadu. Along with Stalin, 33 other ministers from his party also took oath, the ceremony of which was carried out following all COVID 19 protocols. 300 or less people were invited for the ceremony.

The Stalin led DMK won 125 seats with four from the MDMK, two from the MMK, one each from the TVK and KNMK winning on the DMK’s rising sun symbol. In total, the party succeeded in 133 constituencies out of 234. This will be the sixth time the chief minister will be from the DMK since 1967, when party founder C N Annadurai was first elected to the post. Stalin’s father M Karunanidhi held the post thereafter. Many supporters of the party celebrated the event in social media by sharing the videos and pictures of Stalin taking oath as chief minister of Tamil nadu for the first time.

Now, in a way of reacting to his first ever announcement on “free bus ride” to women, a journalist named Indhuja requested Chief minister to extend the “free bus ride” to trans-genders. “I request

As soon as the tweet blew up with thousands of reactions, the newly elected chief minister himself came up with a reply assuring that he will consider the request and make solution appropriately. “DMK has been considering the lives of trans genders along with the rights being provided to women since the period of our leader Kalaignar. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. Will consider trans genders travelling for free in government buses and will make appropriate solution” Stalin said in his tweet.
