Famous colourist Balaji who has worked in some of the notable films that were released in Kollywood, recently, came up with a tweet in his Twitter handle complaining about a screen placed in PVR theatre located in VR Mall, Anna nagar. Balaji said that the cinematographer of “Nenjuku Needhi” watched the film in a screen of PVR theatre and got upset over the quality of the screen.
Calling out the theatre premises, Balaji asked why can’t they just shut down the screen instead of running it with poor quality. The colourist also said that he had similar experience while watching films such as “Beast”, “RRR” and “Radhe Shyam”. Agreeing to him, Dinesh Krishnan, cinematographer of Nenjuku Neethi shared the tweet in his timeline with many other online users making similar complaints about the theatre premises.
“Nenjuku Needhi”, Tamil remake of Bollywood blockbuster “Article 15”, released in theatres on 20th of May, 2022. Udhayanithi Stalin played the lead role in the film with Arunraja Kamaraja directing it. The film received extremely positive reviews from the fans and critics and is running successfully in theatres.
Dinesh Krishnan of “Soodhu Kavvum”, “Thegidi”, “Kanaa”, “Kaadhalum Kadanthu Pogum” fake handled the camera for “Nenjukku Needhi”. On Tuesday, the director of cinematography went to VR Mall located in Chennai to watch his film and reportedly had a bitter experience.
The Audi 4 screen of PVR cinemas displayed a film with “No Focus” and “Colour fringes in Highlight”. Colourist Balaji, through his tweet, wrote “Hello @_PVRCinemas why can’t you Shut VR Mall Chennai Audi 4 instead of running it with “NO FOCUS” & “Color fringes in Highlight”. Yesterday DOP of Film #NenjukuNeedhi @dineshkrishnanb went & had bitter experience. Is this way to show movies ? #RRR #RadheShyam #BEAST same way” in his tweet.

DOP Dinesh Krishnan shared the tweet as well.
Reacting to the tweet, a Twitter user wrote “@_PVRCinemas don’t give a damn about stuff like sound and projection quality. Apart from their PXL screen every other screen in VR has poor sound quality. Saw KGF once in Rohini and then at PVR. The difference in sound quality was mind boggling” whereas another one said “I also had worst experience in PVR grand galada screen AUDI 1. This screen has Dolby atmos but i experienced worst sound effect and Over sounding too……@_PVRCinemas”

Better to shut down the entire cinema . PVR and Inox run only for pop corn sales. They are least bothered about movie quality

All screens are like that only in both VR Mall and Forum Vijaya Mall. It’s absolute waste of money. Better to watch it in some other theatres

Same with Screen 3 in Palazzo.
