On Friday, Chief minister MK Stalin unveiled the logo of “Vairamuthu Ilakkiyam 50” to mark the 50 years of lyricist Vairamuthu’s contributions to the Tamil literature and the cinema industry. The state’s chief minister also shared about the same in his official twitter handle which made singer Chinmayi who accused the lyricist of sexual harassment to react. The singer sarcastically said “Wow” on seeing the post and replied to some of the online users who came in to defend Vairamuthu.

The unveiling took place at the cam office of the chief minister in the presence of Vairamuthu and his sons Madan Karky and Kabilan Vairamuthu. “The lyricist showered us with his poem and songs that perfect blend of creativity and science. Let Kavi perarsu rule us with his mastery over the language for over a century” Chief minister MK Stalin said in his tweet.

Chinmayi Sripaada has accused Vairamuthu by alleging that she was asked to “cooperate” and visit him in a hotel. In the wake of #MeToo movement, there are plenty of other women who have accused Vairamuthu on the basis on anonymity. But singer Chinmayi chose to tweet. She has recalled an incident that a concert organiser asked her to “cooperate” and visit Vairamuthu in his hotel room. She said this happened in 2005 or 2006. Since Chinmayi revealed about it, she has been receiving both criticism and support from the users of Internet.

On seeing the actress expressing her displeasure over the state’s chief minister lauding him, a follower, came up with a comment saying that his works are always legendary and no one can match his lyrics. “But mam his works are always legendary !
No one can match his lyrics , even u know it” the user said.

Replying to him, the singer said “Couldnt care a damn. Maybe if I were your sister and got molested by him you ll still go hold the dheevitti. Namma oorkaaranga buddhi ivlo keekkadam dhan. Ellaam avan avanuku avan avan veetla nadakkattum appa teriyum”
