A first year female student of Jaffna University Kilonochchi faculty of technology in Sri lanka has attempted suicide due to the harassment she faced through online, especially through Whatsapp. Senior students of her college has been involved in torturing her constantly. Singer Chinmayi who is known voicing against sexual harassment has brought this news to the lights by sharing it in her official Instagram account.

The senior students forced the first year student to send her own pictures without clothes and to call through video in whatsapp. Chinmayi is known for voicing out for the girls who became victim of sexual harassment. As soon as she represented the #MeToo movement in South India by accusing lyricist Vairamuthu, she started receiving so many personal messages from girls who got affected by harassers.

The singer cum dubbing artist shared many messages in her official twitter account without mentioning the names of the victims. Now one of her recent Instagram story has showed a screenshot of a one way chat in whatsapp which has abusive texts. Sharing the post Chinmayi requested her 6 lakh followers to check out the post to identify the criminals.

The post redirects us to an Instagram post which exposes us about the details of the entire incident. The instagram handle which read as Eelam Media posted a series of phone numbers and said that they are the contact numbers of the harassers.

The number crimes against women is increasing day by day. The series of recent happenings of rape and murder shook the entire human ethnicity and is making a very big impact in social media. Online bullying is no less than harassing a female in person and it is high time for men to realize that it is a crime which can be punished by the law.
