Chennai IIT Madras : Student Died Inside Hostel Premises !!

Chennai IIT Madras once again grabbed headlines after a second year student died inside the hostel premises. It has been alleged that the student who hails from Maharashtra died by suicide. Reports suggests that he couldn’t handle the pressure and got depressed before making the extreme decision of his life.
Named as Srivan Sunny, the student was studying in Chennai IIT by staying in hostel as his native is Maharashtra. According to Nakheeran, the student made the decision as he couldn’t concentrate on his studies and became vulnerable to mental pressure and depression. It has been reported that one more student tried to commit suicide but was rescued and admitted to hospital. Police officials of Kotturpuram station are investigating the case, as per the reports.
A protest broke out among students against the suicides that are taking place inside the institution. On Monday, a report emerged saying that a student who was studying in IIT Bombay committed suicide allegedly due to caste discrimination.
Identified as Darshan Solanki, an 18 year old B Tech student from Ahmedabad, died apparently after he jumped from the seventh floor of his hostel building at the Institute’s campus in Powai during Sunday afternoon. There was no suicidal note found and Police have registered a case of accidental death.
While Investigation are being made by the Police officials, a group of students alleged that he was driven to suicide due to discrimination against Scheduled Caste student inside the campus. The student enrolled for the course three months ago and his first semester exams concluded on Saturday. The Powai Police are trying to find out if pressure of studies drove the student to take the extreme step.
“Yesterday a suicide happened at IIT Bombay, today one student died by suicide at IIT Madras and one attempted suicide. It is so remorseful” an online user said to express her grief over the series of student deaths that are taking place inside IIT campus whereas another user said “My suggestion: For the next 2 years so IITM should admit ONLY SC students in all branches”
