Chennai, It is home to a large number of Information Technology companies ranging from start-ups to global giants. A recent incident has come to light in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur where a man quit his high-paying job in Dubai to become a thief to please his nightclub dancer girlfriend. Hemant Kumar Raghu, a 40-year-old IIT alumnus, was arrested along with three accomplices for allegedly stealing Rs 2.2 lakh from a woman. Police also seized cash, arms, ammunition, and two stolen bikes from the suspects.
Raghu, a resident of Ponneri police station area in Tiruvallur district of Tamil Nadu, reportedly fell in love with a dancer from Muzaffarpur while he was working in Dubai. He was so smitten by her that he convinced her to quit her nightclub dancer job in exchange for accompanying her to her hometown in Bihar. The couple arrived in Bihar last year, and Raghu claims that he turned to a life of crime after exhausting his entire savings to please his girlfriend.
According to Raghu’s statement to the police, he worked in Dubai for 15 years and had built a considerable amount of savings. However, he claims that he spent all his savings on his girlfriend’s desires and needs. Raghu further revealed that he turned to the world of crime to make quick money and continue to fulfill his girlfriend’s demands.
Raghu built a network with criminals in the district and planned his targets with precision, according to police. The police arrested Raghu and his accomplices, who were involved in several cases of theft and robbery in the region.
This incident highlights the extent people can go to please their loved ones. Love, as they say, can make you do crazy things, and Raghu’s story is a classic example of this. However, it is essential to understand that such actions not only put individuals in legal trouble but also pose a risk to their lives and the lives of those around them. It is vital to find healthy and sustainable ways of expressing and fulfilling one’s love rather than resorting to criminal activities.

The first two deaths, both by suicide, sparked outrage among the student body at IITM. The students demanded accountability from the administration and accused the institute of neglecting their academic and non-academic concerns. The ChintaBar, a student body recognized by IITM, criticized the administration for failing to mention the term “suicide” in official communications. The Chinta Bar argued that the omission was an attempt to evade responsibility.
