Minutes after the release of Master’s second promo, Central government issued a statement directing Tamil nadu state government not to provide 100% occupancy in cinema theatres. The Ministry of Health has pointed out that the Tamil nadu government’s order allowing 100 % occupancy in theatres is a violation of the MHA guidelines which allows only 50 % occupancy considering the safety of the citizens against Coronavirus threat.

“The Government of Tamil Nadu has permitted to increase the seating capacity of cinemas theatres/ multiplexes from existing 50% capacity to 100% by following the Standard Operating Procedure. This amounts to dilution of MHA Order dated 28 December, 2020 issued under the DM Act. 2005.” read the notice from the central government.
The order has requested Tamil nadu government to immediately issue necessary order to bring their Guidelines in line with the MHA guidelines dated 28 December, 2020 and inform compliance to with the central Ministry.

Tamil nadu government has agreed for 100 % occupancy in theatres ahead of actor Vijay’s Master and Silambarasan’s Eashwaran release. Responding to the request of The Tamil nadu exhibitors association and actor Vijay’s direct approach, Chief minister Edappadi Pazhaniswamy seems to have made the important decision.
While fans of Tamil cinema and theatre owners expressed their happiness through social media platforms, many people criticized the decision of the Tamil nadu government. However, fans countered them by pointing out the crowded Tasmac shops and tourists spots such as beaches, parks etc. Now, this announcement from the central government left the fans in a dejected state.
Reactions started surfacing in social media platforms as soon as the announcement surfaced. Fans, cinema celebrities, theatre owners, political personalities are uploading tweets reacting to the interruption of MHA.
Massive embarassment for TN CM #EPS, MHA intervenes and directs TN govt to revoke approval for 100% occupancy in theatres. #Master #MasterFilm

If the content is good, I don't think 50% would be a major obstacle for #Master. IMO family and many others would be now ready to watch the movie in a comparatively safer environment. Same goes for #Eeswaran.

However, we have to wait and see if the major change in theatre occupancy is going to impact the releases of these films.
