From South Indian actress Pranitha Subash to actor cum Politicians Kamal Haasan, Vijayakanth, a number of famous celebrities came forward raising voice for the demise of Tamil nadu student Lavanya who allegedly killed herself due to the harassment she faced in her school. Hashtags such as “Nation with Lavanya”, “Justice For Lavanya” are trending in the micro blogging social media site ever since the issue grabbed the attention of national media.
Kamal Haasan, in his long press note, said that any kind of harassment that children go through from a school management is condemnable. “Few say that the child consumed poison due to the harassment she faced on converting her religion, others say that she killed herself after she was forced to do all the works including cleaning toilets in her hostel. No matter, what kind of harassment it is, children are attending school only o learn, not to get religious lessons or to do household works” Kamal said in his press note and called the state government and higher officials for turning a blind eye towards such issues.
