Bride stopped her marriage after seeing strange activities of her groom who was suspected of consuming drugs. Family of the Bride questioned the Groom and her family members as a result of which the event got cancelled and Police arrived at the spot. Upon inspecting the Groom, Police said that he didn’t drink alcohol or injected himself with drugs. However, he was suspected of smoking weed, according to Polimer news.

The ceremony of marriage reception took place at a marriage hall which is located in Mambakkam near Vandalur’s Kelambakkam, Chengalpattu district. The Groom is identified as one Surjith aka Lakshmi Narasimman. The reception was held during the evening of Sunday, 12th of February. The marriage event was about to happen at the next morning.

In the reception, Surjith was not in a stable state and went unconscious in front of the bride on the stage. The event saw the presence of some of  the high profile personalities including political leaders and income tax department officers. The Bride who felt humiliated in front of them, complained about the state of the Bride to her parents.

Family of the Bride stopped the reception midway and involved in an argument with the family of Surjith which led to physical altercation. Police arrived at the spot and started inquiring Surjith and his family members. After inspecting him, Police confirmed that Surjith didn’t consume alcohol or injected himself with a drug imposes injection.

At that time, Surjith said that he made a mistake and apologized to everyone with folded hands. Suspecting him of smoking weed before the reception, the family of Bride cancelled the function in midway and refused to get their daughter married to Surjith.

Further, the family wanted thier jewels back from the Groom and said that all the expenses of the whole reception event should be beared by Surjith. Removing the ring he was wearing, Surjith could be heard saying “I didn’t want to get married for this” and removed the chain aggressively.

Police accompanied Surjith safely from the marriage hall to outside and Surjith reportedly kicked a chair out of frustration. Angered by his gestures, Bride’s relatives tried to attack Surjith. Pacifying the mob, Police officials safely sent Surjith and his family in a car. Further investigation regarding the case filed by the Bride’s family is currently underway.
