To prevent Coronavirus from spreading across Tamilnadu, chief minister Edappadi Pazhaniswamy ordered to shut down all the Cinema theatres, malls, schools and colleges. As soon as the news surfaced, producers SR Prabhu, Archana Kalpathi, Owner of Rohini Silver screen and several others announced that their firms will be closed until the further statement from the government. However, the board exams for class 10, 11 and 12 are going to take place as per schedule. Medical colleges are going to continue functioning as well.

This order of Chief Minister Edappadi Pazhaniswamy comes into effect from the midnight of 17th March as per the official statement released on Monday. The list of places which are asked to down the shutter till March 31 includes, The Tamilnadu Legislative Assembly and all the Anganwadi centers.

All cinema theatres, museums, Amusement parks, Shopping malls, Gyms, Swimming Pools are also going to get closed till 31st of March. Events that are going to take place in Wedding halls are also restricted. The official statement also asked people to keep the attendance to a bare minimum in events like temple festivals and funerals. Permissions to conduct rallies, sports events, exhibitions, cultural programmes, debates, summer camps, processions should not be given till March 31.

Stadiums, Clubs, bars, Resorts are also going to get a shut down till 31st. The state government advised people not to plan for trip utilising the holidays as it is a measurement taken to avoid travellings. It also requested citizens to avoid gatherings and to avoid crowding in places like temples, churches and mosques.
