Here’s What You Need To Do To Get Whatsapp Video Calling

The much awaited Whatsapp video calling feature has left the social networking fans in a storm.

With Facebook backed Whatsapp’s popularity going down in the recent days due to google’s launch of “Allo” the social networking app, people may have thought Whatsapp’s doom days are close by. But wait, the developers had other things in mind. Not much expecting, the Whatsapp video call rolled in all of a sudden on the 16th of November. This move has not only strengthened Whatsapp’s position online but also has made it a fierce competitor to Skype and Facetime.

The new functionality looks similar to the normal voice calling feature, however a picture-in-picture feed will allow you to see yourself and who you’re talking to.

“Today we’re excited to announce the next step in our efforts to connect people – WhatsApp video calling,” the statement read.

Video calling is one of several new additions to WhatsApp’s feature suite in recent weeks. In October, the company rolled-out a feature that allowed users to draw on images, similar functionalities found on Snapchat, Instagram and iMessage.

Here’s how to avail Whatsapp Video Calling.

  • Open Google Play and search for WhatsApp
  • Scroll down towards the bottom of the page
  • In the section that says Become a beta tester tap on I’M IN
  • Confirm on the next screen and wait for a few minutes
  • Come back to WhatsApp listing page on Google Play
  • You should see an option to Update WhatsApp to beta version
  • Update the app

And yeah, try to avoid links such as the one below which misleads to pages claiming you’d activate whatsapp video calling only after doing what they say. This may lead to mishap of information.
