Bollywood actor Ajay Devgan has taken the lead role in the Hindi remake of the Tamil hit film Kaithi, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. Kaithi, starring Karthi in the lead role, was released in 2019 and went on to become a blockbuster hit, rivaling Vijay’s Bigil. It was noted for its brisk pace and taut storytelling, despite not having a heroine or any songs.

Following the tremendous success of the Tamil film, various filmmakers expressed interest in remaking it. Ajay Devgan announced that he had acquired the Hindi remake rights to Kaithi and would direct the film himself, as well as play the lead role. The Hindi version of Kaithi is titled Bola, and the shooting has been completed, with the film set for release soon.

The news about Bola, the Hindi remake of Kaithi, has been met with surprise and shock. The original film was noted for not having a heroine or any songs, yet Ajay Devgan has reportedly cast three heroines in the Hindi version, including Amala Paul, Tabu, and Rai Lakshmi. It has been reported that Amala Paul will play the lead opposite Ajay Devgan, while Tabu will play the role of Naren, a police officer. The addition of a new item song featuring Rai Lakshmi has further raised eyebrows among Tamil fans.

Some are disappointed that the filmmakers chose to deviate from the original, while others are excited to see the new additions to the story. Some Tamil fans have even created memes expressing their disappointment, with one popular meme reading, “What a shame, sir.”

It remains to be seen how Bola will be received by audiences when it releases. Fans of the original Kaithi will undoubtedly be curious to see how Ajay Devgan has adapted the story for the Hindi version, while others may be drawn in by the star power of the lead actor and the inclusion of three heroines. Regardless of the reception, Bola is sure to generate buzz and spark conversations about the nature of remakes and the creative choices filmmakers make when adapting a successful film for a new audience.
