In a press meet that took place recently, Former Tamil nadu BJP leader and current Minister of Information and Broadcasting, said that the petrol price reduction announced by Tamil nadu government led by MK Stalin didn’t come into effect. As the reduction got implemented a day after the announcement, he got informed about the same by the reporters. After knowing about it, he could be seen, he could be seen stumbling to answer. Tamil nadu finance minister Dr. Palanivel Thiaga Rajan shared the video in his twitter timeline and added “face palm” emoji to express his emotion over the ignorance of the BJP leaders.

While presenting the state budget, Tamil nadu finance minister PTR announced that the petrol price has been cut by Rs. 3. “2.6 core people in Tamil Nadu use two-wheelers. We have reduced ₹ 3 in petrol price, and due to this we will face a ₹ 1,160 crore deficit,” Mr P.T Thiagarajan said, according to the reports. With a set of people welcoming the move by the TN government, many could be seen criticizing the Stalin led government as well.

It is notable that this was the first budget presented by the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam government of Chief Minister MK Stalin after the party swept the assembly election in April , 2021. Fuel prices have been rising across the country and have breached the Rs. 100 mark in several other states. Entire country, including the leaders of opposition parties have been criticizing runaway fuel prices.

In a recent press meet, BJP leader L. Murugan was asked to answer on how he sees the petrol price reduction of Tamil nadu government. Reacting to the question, Murugan questioned back asking “Tamil nadu government has announced that they will be reducing, right ? They didn’t reduce it yet ? Have they ?”. He further questioned “They have announced the reduction of Rs. 3 in the budget, did it come into effect ?”

After being corrected by the reporters about the reduction which came into effect 2 days ago, Murugan could be seen stumbling to answer. Current Tamil nadu BJP leader Mr. Annamalai was also present in the press meet. On seeing the video, Tamil nadu finance minister Dr. Palanivel Thiagarajan, shared it in his twitter timeline and added a “face palm” emoji to express his emotion.
