A tweet of BJP’s state secretary Ratnakar claiming that the travel from Coimbatore to Trissur will be reduced from 2 hours to 10 minutes due to the tunnel that recently got opened, garnered huge reception among the users of Twitter with many lauding the Indian’s government’s infrastructure development. He expressed his displeasure over no media house covering the “Good news” as well. However, it has been disclosed that the tunnel is reducing 10 minutes of travel from the entire 2 hours and reducing the 2 hours of travel to 10 minutes. The state secretary of BJP party uploaded a 45 seconds video in his tweet which shows someone traveling in bike shooting the video of the Kuthiran tunnel.

On 31st of July 2021, the Kuthiran tunnel was opened, right after Union minister of road transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari had instructed to open one side of the 1.6 kilometre lane twin tunnel. The tunnel passes through the Peechi-Vazahani wildlife sanctuary. Kuthiran is a mountainous terrain on the Mannuthy-Vadakancherry stretch of the Thirussur-Palakkad highway and is accident prone on the crowded stretch of the National highway 544. The completion of both the tunnels is expected to reduce to travel time as it would avoid the vehicle congestion while navigating the hills.

Ratnakar uploaded a tweet in his twitter timeline writing “Coimbatore to Trichur Tunnel Opened. 2hours Journey is now 10Minutes. Thanks to the Govt of india Infrastructure development. May be no Media house will talk about such Good News.” and added a video of vehicles passing through the tunnel.

With his tweet being vague on whether the tunnel is reducing 10 minutes of whole travel time or the whole travel time is being reduced to 10 minutes, users of the micro blogging social media site started trolling him. “114 Km in 10 mins. Finally Indian roads are capable of having car which could run at speed of 684km/hr” a social media user replied trolling the tweet of Ratnakar whereas another one dropped a comment saying “Ok. Time for some mathematics. Distance of 114 Kms in 10 minutes. That means a speed of 684 Km/h. Are these people travelling in sub sonic speed vehicles?”

Two hours journey is not reduced to 10 minutes. This tunnel reduces the overall 123 km distance by 3 kms. Now also journey time is almost 2 hrs. Journey time is reduced by 10 mins. This tunnel is less than 1 km long. Gadkari is doing an excellent job. Har baar javelin muth feko.

On 31st of July, Minister of Road Transport & Highways, Nitin Gadkari uploaded a tweet saying that the tunnel is 1.6 kms long. “The road will improve connectivity to important ports and towns in North – South Corridor without endangering wildlife.” he said in his tweet.
