Posting a screen shot of a twitter user named Swathi Bellam whose bio says that he is an Orthodontist, BJP member Kalyan criticized actor Vijay based on the recent judgement provided to him by the Madras High court regarding the tax exemption he sought for his imported Rolls Royce Ghost in the year 2012. Pointing out the role the actor played in “Mersal” movie, both Swathi Bellam and Kalyan questioned how he could ask Doctors to charge Rs. 5 for patients after trying to loot money that is meant for the public.

Actor Vijay made headlines on Tuesday for a petition he filed in the year 2012, seeking tax exemption on his Rollys Royce Ghost which was imported from England. Judge Subramanian of Madras high court condemned the actor for hesitating the tax money which is mandatory and slapped Rs. 1 lakh fine. Several hashtags, tweets, posts, memes, opinions, reactions poured from all the directions of Internet regarding the judgement as Vijay is one of the highest paid actors in Indian with a huge fan base.

A twitter user named Swathi Bellam whose bio says that he is an “Orthodontist Nationalist”, uploaded a tweet writing “And this joker wanted doctors to charge 5₹ for patients. Even if u see 100 patients a day u will make 500 and in a month 12500. Will doctors family beg on streets to live ? Why can’t he charge 5000₹ per movie and keep his movie tickets at 5₹” in his tweet referring to the Atlee’s directorial “Mersal” in which Vijay played the role of a Doctor.

Capturing the screen shot of his tweet, Kalyan, Former National Secretary of Bharatiya Janata Mahila Morcha, said “One can make his opinion in his life. But he has to be true to himself before making the opinion. After saying that Doctors could get paid Rs. 5, is it right to loot money that is meant for public?” by tagging the official twitter account of actor Vijay. “வாழ்க்கையில் கருத்து சொல்லலாம் ஆனா சொல்லுவதற்கு முன்னாடி நாம அதுக்கு உண்மையா இருக்கணும். அஞ்சு ரூபாய் டாக்டரா இருக்கலாம்னு சொல்லிட்டு இப்படி நாட்டுக்கு, அங்கிருந்து மக்களுக்கு செல்ல வேண்டிய பணத்தை அமுக்குவது சரியா தம்பி??”

Reactions condemning the judge for making personal opinions while issuing judgement are also surfacing in social media platforms. “Do our law allow us to punish the judges who make their personal opinions in a case where an individual filed a petition asking whether he has to pay the entry tax or not after paying duty tax ? Also for wasting court’s time and keeping a case in pending for 9 long years ?” a twitter user whose bio says that she is an advocate asked along with others.
