On Wednesday, Tamil nadu chief minister MK Stalin announced a compensation of Rs. 25 lakh to the families of 43 Doctors who had lost their lives while on COVID 19 patient treatment duty. He also announced incentives to those medical service personnel who were involved in treatment of COVID 19 patients. Doctors will be paid Rs 30,000, nurses and trainee doctors Rs 20,000, and others like sanitary workers, people working in CT scan department, ambulance workers Rs 15,000 based on the incentive scheme for the three months April-May-June due to the second wave of COVID 19 virus.

The DMK leader also extended greetings to the nurses on the International nurses day that falls on 12th of May. Tamil Nadu recorded 29,272 fresh COVID-19 cases on Tuesday which is the single biggest day spike so far, pushing the caseload to 14,38,509 while 298 deaths in the last 24 hours took the toll to 16,178. 19,182 people were discharged, taking the tally to 12,60,150, leaving 1,62,181 active infections, says reports.

On seeing this announcement of MK Stalin, popular actress cum politician Gayathri Raguramm uploaded a tweet in her official twitter account criticizing the decision of of the former. She said that Stalin demanded Rs. 1 crore as compensation for the family of the front line workers and said that former chief minister Edappadi K Pazhaniswamy and Prime minister Narendra Modi provided Rs. 50 lakh. “But Stalin has decreased the amount to Rs. 25 lakh, He demanded something and offering something else” she criticized.

She also demanded Stalin to provide Rs. 1 crore as compensation for the loss of the families of reporters and journalists as Stalin declared them as frontline workers few days back.
