In a disheartening incident that sheds light on the rising trend of honeytrap scams in Bengaluru, a retired government official has fallen prey to an extortion gang, resulting in the loss of a staggering ₹82 lakhs. The victim, identified as Chithindra (60), resides in the Jayanagar area of Bengaluru.

The victim’s unfortunate encounter began when he crossed paths with Reena Annamma (40), marking the inception of a series of events that would lead to the extortion of a substantial sum of money. The relationship between Chithindra and Annamma began with a seemingly innocuous loan of ₹5,000 that Annamma had borrowed from him. However, their association took a darker turn as they grew closer.

The situation escalated when Annamma exploited the compromising position she had captured in a video, taken during their time together in a hostel room. Armed with this compromising video, Annamma brazenly confronted Chithindra and began to blackmail him. Threatening to expose the video to his family and relatives, Annamma demanded money in exchange for her silence.

As if the ordeal with Annamma was not enough, another individual identified as Sneha (30) joined the extortion scheme, further amplifying the pressure on Chithindra. Together, they coerced and manipulated Chithindra into surrendering a shocking sum of ₹82 lakhs, exploiting his fear of public humiliation and shame.

Amid this mounting pressure, Chithindra found himself trapped in a nightmarish cycle of extortion, with the duo repeatedly demanding more money under the threat of releasing the compromising video to his family and relatives. The psychological torment finally prompted Chithindra to take action, and he approached the Jayanagar police to report the distressing situation he had been subjected to.
