Arun Kumar, a native of Channapatna, resided in Channasandra and was known in the local community as a hotelier. His entrepreneurial venture had encountered significant setbacks, and he had borrowed a substantial amount, approximately Rs 8 lakh, from a man named Ganesh to sustain his business. However, his inability to repay the loan led to mounting losses, forcing him to close the hotel three weeks prior to his tragic death.

The investigation resulted in the arrest of five individuals: Ranjitha (the victim’s wife), Ganesh (Ranjitha’s paramour), and Ganesh’s friends Shivananda, Sharath, and Deepak. These individuals resided in various areas of Bengaluru, namely Channasandra, RR Nagar, and Banashankari.

As the police delved into the details of the case, they noticed Ranjitha’s suspicious behavior and detained her for questioning. During interrogation, Ranjitha confessed to conspiring with Ganesh and his friends to orchestrate her husband’s murder. The motive behind the crime was revealed to be a combination of the extramarital affair and a mounting financial crisis.

Approximately six months ago, Ganesh became involved in an affair with Ranjitha during his visits to Kumar’s hotel. Four months prior to the murder, Kumar discovered the illicit relationship and warned both Ganesh and Ranjitha. However, Ranjitha continued to meet Ganesh secretly, leading to increased tensions within the marital relationship. The situation escalated to the point where Kumar began assaulting his wife frequently.

Unable to bear the abuse any longer, Ranjitha approached Ganesh and requested that he eliminate her husband. Recognizing an opportunity to be with Ranjitha without hindrance, Ganesh sought assistance from his friends to carry out the plan. On June 28, Ganesh lured Kumar to Gattigerepalya under the pretense of discussing financial matters related to reopening the hotel. Taking advantage of Kumar’s inebriated state, Ganesh and his friends attacked him with machetes, resulting in his tragic death. Following the brutal act, the assailants swiftly fled the scene.

To divert suspicion from herself, Ranjitha planned a clever alibi. On June 28, a day prior to the crime, she went to her parents’ house in Mandya and returned on June 30. By strategically placing herself away from the crime scene during the time of the murder, Ranjitha aimed to distance herself from any suspicion.
