Bengaluru: A shocking incident that unfolded in Bengaluru, a 23-year-old woman named Akanksha was found dead inside her apartment. The police suspected foul play and soon discovered that her former live-in partner, Arpit, was the prime suspect in the case. Akanksha, hailing from Hyderabad, had been working at a private firm in Bengaluru. She met Arpit, a native of Delhi and a colleague at Byju’s, a renowned ed-tech company, four years ago. The two entered into a live-in relationship, but over time, their bond began to deteriorate. Despite no longer living together, Arpit would occasionally visit Akanksha in Bengaluru.

On that fateful day, Arpit paid Akanksha a visit, leading to a heated altercation between the former partners. Tragically, the situation escalated, and Arpit allegedly strangled Akanksha. In a chilling attempt to conceal the murder, he then tried to stage it as a suicide by attempting to hang her body from a ceiling fan. Failing in his macabre endeavor, he left the lifeless body on the floor, locked the apartment, and fled the scene, leaving behind a harrowing mystery for the authorities to unravel.

Arpit, cognizant of the impending investigation, meticulously planned his escape to evade capture. His scheme was reminiscent of a plot from a movie, as he aimed to create an illusion of being absent from the city during the time of the crime. Before embarking on his journey, he left his mobile phone in Delhi, ensuring it wouldn’t be traced back to him. Arpit also packed multiple sets of clothes and took Rs. 5,000 in cash.

To further complicate matters and avoid suspicion, Arpit embarked on a convoluted route. He first traveled to Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh, where he stashed his clothes. From there, he arrived in Bengaluru by foot, concealing his identity. Following the murder, Arpit walked approximately 8 kilometers to reach the railway station, boarded a train to Hyderabad, and eventually made his way to Assam. In Assam, he worked as a daily wage laborer and a vegetable vendor, attempting to maintain a low profile. Subsequently, he returned to Vijayawada and sought refuge in one of his friend’s driving school office buildings.

The police, determined to apprehend Arpit, employed various strategies to locate him. They contacted his mother through her friend, eventually tracing his whereabouts. The authorities managed to apprehend Arpit in Delhi, where he was in hiding. Initially, Arpit attempted to assert his innocence by presenting all the travel tickets as evidence of his non-involvement in the murder. However, under police interrogation, he eventually confessed to his heinous act, disclosing that he killed Akanksha because he did not want her to be with anyone else
