After Sanjay Manjrekar ruled Ashwin out from his “All time great” list, various kind of reactions kept pouring from all directions of social media. His statement comparing Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravinder Jadeja made headlines in the media portals across the country.
Now, the most awaited climax of the controversy emerged. Yes, Ashwin chose to put a full stop to this comparisons and controversies and the verbal spats that are taking place between the fans by replying to one of the tweets of the former Indian cricketer and current commentator. It is notable that Sanjay Manjrekar received a reply from Ravinder Jadeja months ago after criticizing him by calling him a “bits and pieces” cricketer.
In his statement, Sanjay Manjrekar said that he doesn’t consider Ashwin as a “all time great bowler” and added that his performance in the foreign countries which includes the SENA countries (South Africa, England, New zealand, Australia) doesn’t look much impressive. “When people start talking about him as being one of the all-time greats of the game then I have a few problems. “One basic problem I have with Ashwin is that when you look at SENA countries, Ashwin doesn’t have a single five-wicket haul there,” Sanjay Manjrekar said in his statement.
Further, he compared Ravinder Jadeja with Ashwin while considering about the wicket taking abilities. He also said that Axar Patel took more wickets than Ashwin in the England series on similar pitches. “So that is my problem with accepting as a real all time great” Manjrekar said in his statement. When the statement of Sanjay Manjrekar left the social media talking, Sanjay cited examples to denote what “all time great” means according to him.
“‘All- time great’ is the highest praise & acknowledgement given to a cricketer. Cricketers like Don Bradman, Sobers, Gavaskar, Tendulkar, Virat etc are all time greats in my book. With due respect, Ashwin not quite there as an all-time great yet. All Time Great Explained” one Sanjay’s tweets read.

While thousands of people were justifying and confronting the statements of Sanjay, Ashwin came up with a meme to end the topic. He uploaded the picture of the most famous dialogue of Vikram from Anniyan through which he would say “Apdi sollatha da Chaari, Manasellam Valikkirthu” which is translated as “Don’t say that Chaari, it hurts me”
Ashwin added the tweet with laughing and “stars in the eyes” emoji and it is worth mentioning now that his twitter bio reads “Sarcasm and optimism my forte.”
Here’s the tweet of the cricketer :
The tweet blew up in no time with thousands of reactions. The cricketer also helped non-Tamil speaking followers of him to understand the dialogue by adding another tweet writing “For all those who don’t understand Tamil, it’s a dialogue from the movie Aparachith!”
